So . . .
What exactly is a Mophead Bud Vase?
In my quest to view large hydrangea blossoms in a vase that doesn't constrain them, I decided to, sort of, invent one.
The rim is wide to hold the large blossoms upright and to give the impression that the mophead blossom is being held in someone's hands, as to cradle.
OUTSIDE:
Conceptual hydrangea petals and leaves glazed with dark pink and very pale green Celadon glazes. (Scroll down to see Celadon definition below).
At the bottom of this bud vase is a narrow band of taped design in dark brown.
Footring was formed on the potter's wheel, and is not glazed.
INSIDE:
Glossy pale yellow glaze.
RIM:
Rim is very wide to "hug" the mophead flower bloom, and is also crafted with conceptual hydrangea petals and leaves glazed with dark pink and very pale green Celadon glazes.
Outer rim band is a very dark brown satin glaze.
Wheel-thrown Standard 365 Porcelain
Lead free, dinnerware safe glazes
Fired to cone 6 (2232 degrees Fahrenheit).
I recommend washing this bud vase by hand.
My signature engraved on the bottom.
