This Handmade Wheel-thrown, Rouleau Loops, Buttons and White Roses, Very Unique "Wedding" Bowl Measures

4-1/4" wide x 3-1/2" high.

Rouleau Loops are Practically Synonymous with Wedding Dresses.
Actually, that's where I got the idea, researching the buttons with the loops.
I didn't know what they were called, but I remembered they are usually used to fasten wedding dresses.
(I read that using a crochet hook to lift the loops over the buttons is quite handy).
The buttons, loops and even the dresses they are attached too are usually so beautiful, they inspired me to make a bowl utilizing the "rouleau" fabric or cording loops, plus covered buttons.
Still inspired to make more pottery vessels with this ornate detail.
Zippers just don't do it!

OUTSIDE:
Wheel-thrown colored porcelain clay vessel.
The clay is colored a bright blue - "Something Borrowed, Something Blue"?
Didn't even occur to me until I uploaded the photos. No, really, it's true!
The buttons with loops were attached at the leather hard stage (clay is still pliable, but not wet).
AFTER the bowl was bisque fired to Cone 04 (1945 degrees Fahrenheit), roses were drawn around the circumference of the bowl and outlined with rubber latex. Glazed with three coats of semi-opaque white gloss, then rubber latex pulled off as if pulling a rubber band.
On the bottom of this "Wedding Bowl", above the footring are two bands of taped designs - stripes at the bottom, and a butterfly inspired design above the stripes.
Very narrow tape was applied to the surface of the bowl, and two coats of a dark satin brown glazed in between the tape. Tape was removed before kiln firing.

INSIDE:
A pale blue flux glaze was applied to the inside, catching the Blue Midnight glaze on the rim, creating little dark blue speckles where the two glazes overlap.
The swirl on the inside bottom is clearly visible accentuated by the light blue glaze.

RIM:
Glossy Blue Midnight

Wheel-thrown Standard 365 Porcelain Clay.
Glazed with lead-free, dinnerware safe glazes.
Fired to Cone 6 (2232º Fahrenheit).
I recommend washing these hand crafted pieces by hand.
My signature is engraved on the bottom of the bowl.

All of our handmade pottery is either wheel-thrown or hand-built in our North Carolina home studio.
