Handmade, Wheel-thrown Pot Bellied Diamonds and Flowers Bud Vase Measures:
4-1/4" wide x 5" high
Pot bellied bowls are the plumpest shapes, and demand a little pat on their plumpness. This bud vase was created on the potter's wheel as a round bowl with a narrow hole on top. The flowers were formed after stamping them out of leather hard clay, then pinching the petals to close a bit. The center apricot colored porcelain pollen was made by hand rolling.
Very narrow 1/32" tape applied to the bowl after even spacing was established. This took awhile. Wrapping tape on a plump curved surface - a little time consuming. Amaco velvet underglazes brushed onto the negative spaces; between the tape lines - three times around!
The last two photos show the bud vase taped and after underglaze is applied with tape removed.

Wheel thrown, flowers sculpted and hand glazed by me. Standard 365 Porcelain. Glazed with lead free, dinnerware safe clear glaze. Please hand wash this bud vase. Kiln fired to cone 6 (2232 degrees F.) Engraved with my signature on the bottom.
