Dennis's Wheel-thrown Bud Vase with Agateware Seashells and Sand Dollar Charm Measures:
2" wide x 2-3/4" high.
Dennis continues his agateware seashell ornamentation with this lovely bud vase. He likes to add charms if it's fitting, so we added a tiny arm, and attached a jump ring and two agateware sand dollar charms.
OUTSIDE: Dark, glossy red celadon glaze on most of the outside covering a very pale apricot colored porcelain. The glossy, red celadon glaze covers our "arm" used to attach the two sand dollar charms. The sand dollar charms are agateware porcelain. Dennis creates his own agateware seashells and sand dollars by combining two colors of colored porcelain and twisting them together. This marbles the clay. The marbled clay is pressed into a resin seashell mold.
INSIDE: The seashells are on the inside rim of this vase. These agateware seashells are attached to the vase while still in its greenware (raw) state, using wet clay (slip) the same color as the vase. The seashells are not hot glued on, they are fired in the kiln with the vase
Wheel thrown and hand glazed by Dennis. Colored Standard 365 Porcelain Clay. Glazed with dinnerware safe, lead free glazes. Please wash by hand because of the attached sand dollar charms and metal jump ring. Kiln fired to cone 6 (2232 degrees Fahrenheit) Dennis's initials with happy face carved on the bottom.
